Chapter 1 My Husband First Betrayal

My wedding night was supposed to be perfect.
Instead, it became the worst night of my life.
Just a few hours earlier, Xavier Blackthorne stood before hundreds of guests and promised to love me forever. Cameras flashed everywhere while reporters called it the wedding of the year. Women looked at me with envy while powerful men shook Xavier’s hand with respect.
I believed I was lucky Xavier Blackthorne was the kind of man every woman dreamed about. Rich, powerful, handsome, and admired by almost everyone. People spent years trying to enter his world.
Yet somehow, he chose me.
That night, I sat alone in our bedroom waiting for him.
“There’s an important business deal I need to handle,” he told me before leaving.
On our wedding night.
At first, I tried to understand. Men like Xavier are busy men. That was the excuse I kept making up myself on his behalf while staring at the clock beside the bed.
But after an hour passed, I started feeling uneasy
Then my phone buzzed.
Unknown Number.
I frowned before opening the message.
The moment I saw the picture attached, my heart stopped.
It was Xavier
And another woman.
The picture was very clear,so I recognized my husband immediately. The woman’s face was blurred out. She stood close to him as he grabbed her waist possessively.
My breathing became uneven.
Another message entered immediately.
Your husband isn’t handling business tonight.
My fingers started trembling.
Then a video came in.
I looked at the screen for a few minutes, praying it was some kind of mistake.
But slowly I pressed play as my hand trembled.
The moment the video started, tears filled my eyes immediately.
Xavier kissed this woman inside a hotel room like they belonged to each other. Like it was normal. Like they haven’t seen each other for a while
I couldn’t see the woman’s face clearly, but I heard her laughing softly before the video ended.
The phone dropped off my hand as I held my chest because my heart hurts like it had just been pierced by an arrow.
For a moment, I couldn’t breathe properly.
This had to be fake.
It had to be.
But deep down, I already knew the truth.
My husband was cheating on me.
On our wedding night.
This can’t be happening I whispered as tears rolled down my face as I replayed the video again and again,as if the man’s face is gonna change.
But the result stayed the same.
Xavier.
Another woman.
Questions flooded my head immediately.
How long had this been happening?
Was I the only fool who didn’t know?
Did he ever love me at all?
Suddenly, his car honked outside the mansion as the flashlight showed on the windows and my heart jumped.Xavier was back.
I wiped my tears quickly and tried steading my breathing before the bedroom door opened.
A few seconds later, Xavier walked inside gently while loosening his tie like nothing had happened.
“Babe I’m sorry, the meeting took longer than I thought”.
Then he saw my face red and pale from crying.
“Babe, what’s wrong”?
I sniffed and said.
“You mean the sex took longer than you expected”!
His eyes immediately moved to the phone in my shaking hand. And instantly,he knew what happened. Then the innocence and the pretense suddenly wiped off as if all this was an act.
The big silence between us is so calm that you could hear a needle when dropped.
I waited for him to deny it.
To apologize.
To explain himself at least.
Anything.
But instead, Xavier slowly closed the bedroom door and looked directly at me.
“Who sent you the video?” he asked calmly.
I stared at him in shock and surprise.
That was his first question?
Not an apology.
Not guilt.
Nothing.
Tears burned my eyes again.
“You cheated on me,” I said with my cracked voice.Xavier remained silent for a few seconds before sighing softly.
“It’s not what you think.”
I laughed bitterly while in tears.
“There’s literally a video of you kissing another woman.”
His jaw tightened slightly.
“Laurel……”
“Who is she?” I asked shakily.
He didn’t answer immediately.
That silence hurt more than words.
“Who is she?” I repeated.
Xavier walked toward me slowly.
“It doesn’t matter.”
I felt my heart break all over again.
“Doesn’t matter?” I repeated quietly.
“She means nothing.”
The coldness in his voice made my heart skip .I stared at him like it was the first time I saw him. Just a few hours ago, you stood before everyone saying your vows and promising to love, care and protect me.
Now he looked completely different.
Cold.
Controlled.
Untouched by my pain.
“You cheated on me on our wedding night,” I said.
Xavier rubbed his forehead tiredly like this conversation annoyed him already.
“You’re overreacting.”
My jaw dropped.
Overreacting?
I looked at him with surprise,I couldn’t believe my ears.
“You left urgently on our wedding night telling me it was a business deal only to sleep with another woman, and I’m overreacting?”
His face hardened slightly.
“Lower your voice.”
That was the moment something inside me cracked completely.not because he cheated. But because he genuinely didn’t think he had done something terrible.
Tears rolled down my cheeks again as I stepped away from him.
“How long?” I asked quietly.
Xavier stayed silent.
And somehow, that silence answered everything.
It wasn’t the first time.
My knees could no longer support me.
I covered my mouth quickly as pain spread through my chest.Xavier watched me carefully before speaking again.
“This changes nothing.”
I looked up at him slowly.
“What?”
“You’re still my wife.”
The way he said those words made chills run through my body.
Not loving, but possessive,like ownership.
I suddenly couldn’t breathe properly inside the room anymore.
“I hate you,” I whispered.
Xavier remained calm.
“No, you don’t.”
His confidence made me angry instantly.
“How can you even say that?”
“Because I know you,” he replied simply.
I laughed painfully.
“No, Xavier. You clearly don’t.”
For the first time that night,I noticed this marriage was not what I imagine.like I’m the only one in this marriage. Then he walked closer until he stood directly in front of me.
“You’re emotional right now,” he said calmly. “Tomorrow you’ll think differently.”
I looked at him from head to toes still can’t believe what I’m hearing.
He truly believed this would disappear by morning. That I would simply forgive him because he was Xavier Blackthorne.
My chest tightened painfully again.
“Get out,” I whispered.
Xavier didn’t move.
“Laurel……”
“Get out!”
The anger in my voice surprised both of us.Silence filled the room again. Then slowly, Xavier’s expression became colder.
“You should be careful how you speak to me.”
Fear instantly griped me.
Not because he shouted.
But because he didn’t.
His voice remained calm, steady, controlled.
Like a warning hidden beneath soft words.
For a few seconds, none of us said anything. Then suddenly, Xavier’s phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out slowly and looked at the screen.
And for the first time that night
He looked angry.
Real anger.
Before I could understand why, he lifted his eyes slowly to mine.
“Did you tell anyone about this?” he asked sharply.
I frowned through my tears.
“What?”
Instead of answering, Xavier stepped t
oward me again, his expression darker than before.
“Answer me carefully, Laurel.”
“No”!
My heart started beating faster.
Something about his voice suddenly felt dangerous.
Then his phone buzzed again.
This time, I saw the message clearly. We need to talk. She knows now.
