It was their wedding anniversary. Ethan was awake at 3 AM, already tossing and turning. Sleep refused to come

For three days, she hadn’t contacted him. Hadn’t even come home.

That intense panic hit him again. Ethan rubbed his temples, frustrated.

He grabbed his phone, tapping her profile picture. He saw it immediately: her picture was gone. No longer their wedding photo, just blank space.

Ethan froze. The panic inside him surged, undeniable.

Her profile picture hadn’t changed since they got married. Now it was different. When the hell had she even done it?

Ethan hesitated. Should he text her?

But he was too used to being the big shot. He couldn’t bring himself to make the first move.

He barely made it to dawn. Each agonizing minute, each endless second, was pure torture.

Ethan snatched up the first suit he saw, then practically sprinted for the banquet.

Yesterday, he’d bought up trending topics, openly bragging about the massive party he was throwing for me. He even demanded everyone in our circle dress to the nines.

He probably figured I’d see all that, totally melt, and be waiting for him at the venue way ahead of time.

Ethan had it all figured out. After today, his ‘sickness’ would magically vanish, and he’d have me back.

But when he got to the banquet hall, it was totally empty.

He waited for hours. Every guest arrived. But I never showed.

Ethan’s gut twisted with a surge of unease and panic. He snatched his phone and called me.

Just like three days ago, all he got was that same cold, automated voice.

He called over a dozen times. Every single time, same damn thing.

“Luna, enough with the temper tantrum. Everyone’s waiting. Don’t embarrass me!”

Ethan finally snapped, sending his first message in days.

But the next second, a bright red exclamation mark seared his eyes.

Ethan froze.

She blocked him. What the hell did that mean?

Ethan’s heart plummeted. Rage boiled within him.

Find Luna. Bring her to me.” Ethan’s voice was ice-cold.

He could tolerate my little jealous moments. But blocking him? That was a stunt he absolutely wouldn’t stand for

He’d already decided exactly how he’d punish me. But the next second, his secretary burst in, looking frantic

“Mr. Carter, this is bad! I found out the wife… she wiped herself off the grid! And she… she bought a ticket to Avalon!”

In an instant, Ethan froze solid. He stumbled, almost toppling over.

She left. To Avalon. The place he was banned from for life!

Ethan’s mind went completely blank. He couldn’t figure out what the hell was happening

He snapped out of it, fiercely grabbing his secretary’s arm.

“And her mom’ Did she leave with her?”

“No. Only the wife’s ticket showed up.”

Ethan let out a relieved breath. With her mom still here, she wasn’t really going anywhere.

He figured it was just jealousy, a little runaway tantrum.

Ethan’s clenched fists slowly loosened. Six years of marriage. Let her be jealous. Let her make a scene. She’d get it out of her system, then she’d come back.

“Go find her mom. Bring her here.” Ethan’s voice was quiet, but held an iron command. A slow, knowing smile played on his lips, the kind that said he already owned the outcome.

His long fingers tapped the table, waiting.

The phone finally vibrated to life. Ethan swiped it open, and his secretary’s frantic, distorted voice immediately blared

out.

“Mr. Carter! Your wife’s mother… she… she died a week ago!”
