Even after he was thrown out, Ethan, refusing to give up, kept lurking outside the Walker Estate
Doctors had been in and out of the mansion for days. Apparently, I was the one who was sick
He was frantic, but utterly helpless.
Finally, Noah took me out, and Ethan secretly followed.
But Noah’s men stopped him outside the hospital.
After my check-up, Noah’s gaze fell to the report, disappointment heavy on his face.
“Luna,” he sighed, “Another failed match…”
I offered a soft smile.”It’s okay. There’s still time…”
I kept the rest unspoken. Even if time truly ran out, it wouldn’t matter. Just one more day, really living, and I’d know it was all worth it.
Noah’s arm circled my waist, ushering me out of the hospital. The wind tangled my hair around my face, and he reached up, gently sweeping it back.
His long, slender fingers brushed against my pale cheek.
From the corner, Ethan watched, consumed by a jealousy that bordered on madness.
Suddenly, the wind snapped my hair tie.
Noah murmured, “Stay right here. I’ll just pop into the convenience store next door and get you another one.”
Ethan saw his opening, desperate to get to me, to speak to me.
In that instant, an out-of-control semi-truck barreled straight for me!
“Luna! Watch out-!”
Ethan’s eyes went wide. He charged at me like a madman!
Noah spun, bolting back too!
In a blur, Noah, already closer, tackled me hard. We tumbled to safety.
CRUNCH-!
The sickening sound of metal on flesh ripped through the air.
Ethan was hit head-on, flung clear across the street!
As he hung airborne, memories of us flashed through his mind-
Me, arms wrapped around his neck, standing on my toes to kiss him.
Me, pressed against his chest in bed, whispering I’d never want to let him go.
But when he slammed into the pavement, all he saw was me-clutching Noah, sobbing, my hands pressed to the bleeding wound on Noah’s arm.
I didn’t spare him a single glance.
Not even as he lay there, bleeding out on the asphalt, clearly worse off.
Chum Cathy
Not even though he’d taken the hit trying to save me.
The sweet memories of their past and the brutal reality collided, and Ethan finally broke He coughed up a mouthful of blood, then simply collapsed.
Just before darkness claimed him, one thought tore through his mind-
So this was it. She truly was done with him. So… she really didn’t love him anymore.
His eyes fluttered open.
Ethan stared at a stark white ceiling. The hospital room felt unsettlingly empty, a cold knot tightening in his gut.
A nurse’s cart rattled past his door. He caught snippets of hushed whispers.
“Man, some people really get lucky. Both crashed their cars. The guy in the VIP room? Just a scratch, and his girlfriend’s practically glued to his side. Then there’s the dude in room 404. Almost bled out, and nobody even called an ambulance for him…”
Ethan’s heart clenched, a violent tremor shaking him. He ripped out his IV, ignoring the blood gushing from his hand. Leaning heavily on the wall, he shuffled towards the hallway.
He found me in the room next door. I was spoon-feeding Noah, each spoonful of porridge carefully blown cool before I offered it. My beautiful eyes weren’t just overflowing with love-they glowed with it. None of the icy coldness I always had when I looked at him.
Ethan sagged weakly against the wall. He already knew I’d fallen for someone else, but seeing that tender scene with his own eyes still ripped him apart, leaving him bleeding out inside.
He regretted it so much. Regretted losing that kind of love, that happiness, the kind that should have been his.
After seven days, Ethan checked himself out of the hospital, ignoring all warnings. He had to find me. Even if I hated him, even if I refused to speak to him, just a glimpse from afar would be enough.
But then, he got a call.
‘Mr. Carter! We’re in trouble! The company’s in deep shit! Someone reported us for tax evasion, illegal embezzlement, stock manipulation, you name it…”
Before his secretary could even finish, several uniformed officers walked into his hospital room.
“Mr. Carter, please return to the States for questioning.”
Cold handcuffs snapped shut!
Just like that, Ethan was forced back home, and barred from leaving the country.
All of this? Noah’s doing.
He leaned back lazily on the couch, his long legs crossed.
“Luna, he won’t be able to bother you for a long time. He’s barred from leaving the country for at least three to five years.”
I smiled.
Perfect.
I didn’t want to see Ethan for the last two years of my life.
The CEO’s office at Carter Group.
For the first time, Ethan completely lost it, smashing everything he could get his hands on to bits
His secretary huddled in a corner, terrified.
His eyes were bloodshot. He tore at his collar, panting hard.
“That bastard Noah! He’s behind this’ He is! He’s stopping me from seeing Luna!”
Once he’d vented, he turned his furious gaze on his secretary, his voice tight:”How long until this gets sorted”
“Mr. Carter, this is really serious. It’ll probably… at least three years before we can resolve this…”
BANG! The coffee table went flying.
Ethan’s gaze was murderous. “I can’t live a single day without Luna, let alone three years! Whatever it takes, even if we take a massive hit, you have to get this travel restriction lifted for me!”
