Chapter 10
“What?”
Ethan was stunned. He noticed his brother was holding a phone. He snatched it and saw that someone had posted photos online a few days ago of Madison at Southport Airport.
Since the Northwood graduation performance video had been shared online, Madison had gained a wave of fans due to her beauty and academic credentials.
So when someone recognized her at the airport, they posted it.
Ethan’s mind went blank with a ringing sound. Madison had gone back to Southport?
Ethan knew Madison was from Southport. But she had clearly said before that after graduation, she wanted to stay with him in Northwood.
Why would she suddenly go back? For a break? To see her parents? When was she coming back? Countless thoughts raced through his mind. Distracted, Ethan accidentally knocked over a bottle next to him, Crash!
Liquor spilled on the table. His brother quickly picked up Ethan’s phone. “Ethan, watch your phone!”
But after picking it up, his brother paused, looking confused. “Uh, Ethan, sorry, I accidentally opened your text messages… Wait, why is there a message here from Madison?”
Hearing “Madison,” Ethan’s head snapped up. “What?”
His brother’s expression turned somewhat strange. “It’s… from a few days ago. Ethan, you must have seen it already, right?”
Ethan’s face froze. He hadn’t seen it. He mostly used messaging apps these days.
Unless there was an unread SMS notification, he never opened his text messages. He didn’t even remember having any unread texts.
Only now, upon opening it, did he see the message Madison had sent, [I’m going to the airport, heading back to Southport. Goodbye for good.]
Goodbye for good.
Those four words made Ethan’s heart nearly stop for a second. Quickly, he noticed the timestamp of the text, it was from several days before the graduation performance.
So, Madison had already decided to leave back then? But why had she delayed for a few more days? And what did she mean, ‘goodbye for good‘!

Ethan’s hand clenched abruptly, his eyes filled with dark fury!
Breaking up was one thing. Leaving was another.
He should be the one to call the shots!
Since when did she get to notify him?
Thinking this, he shot to his feet. The people around him jumped.
“Ethan? Where are you going?”
Ethan’s steps didn’t hesitate. “To Southport!”
But just as he reached the door, he received another call from the hospital, “Mr. Quinn, it’s bad! Ms. Grant has slit her wrists again!”
Ethan’s steps halted abruptly. His knuckles gripping the phone turned white. But after a few seconds, he still said, “I’m on my way.”
