Chapter 7
After taking the signed divorce agreement to a lawyer and confirming all the details, Geraldine went home to deal with the last of her belongings.
She planned to leave this house early the next morning.
She could no longer stay under the same roof as Oliver.
But that night, he came back.
She thought he might take the chance to explain what had happened over the past few days, or at least mention that he knew she had gone to the office.
Instead, he stormed in and grabbed her by the shoulders.
“Gerrie, where did you take Estelle?”
. His voice shook with urgency, his eyes bloodshot.
Geraldine stood there in a daze, looking at the panic on his face.
Her expression was calm. “Oliver, do you even hear yourself right now?”
His tone softened, almost pleading. “Gerrie, I already know you went to the company this morning. Yes, I betrayed you. I’m sorry for that. But how could you take it out on Estelle? She’s just a child!”

Hearing him say this so casually, Geraldine finally understood what he
meant.
Was Estelle missing?
And Oliver’s first instinct had been to blame her.
Geraldine gave a self–mocking smile and shook his hand off, disappointment written all over her face.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. But since you’ve admitted to cheating, at least we don’t have to keep arguing in circles.
“Let’s get divorced.”
She turned to put distance between them.
The next second, Oliver grabbed her again.
He held her tightly, using so much force that it hurt.
She struggled, but there was no escaping his grip.
“We’ll talk about the divorce later. Geraldine, tell me where Estelle is! Why would you hurt a child?”
Forced to sway under his grip, Geraldine stared at him in despair.
“I didn’t lay a hand on that girl,” she said softly.
As expected, Oliver let out a cold laugh and shook his head.
“She’s never had any problems before. Why did she disappear right after our situation was exposed?

“Geraldine, you were never like this. Why have you become so calculating? Tell me where Estelle is right now!”
Overcome with emotion, he clamped his hand around her neck, his grip tightening with anger.
Geraldine was forced to tilt her head back. The pressure made it hard to breathe, the pain unbearable.
Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes. The man who used to be so gentle with her now radiated sharp hostility, treating her like a criminal.
“If anything happens to Estelle because of you, I will never let you get away with it.”
Geraldine looked at him as if he were a stranger. “So everything about you before was a lie. Oliver, you already have another woman and a child. If you’d just been honest with me, it wouldn’t have come to this.
“Instead of interrogating me, you should spend more time looking for her. The only thing I can tell you is this–I don’t know.”
Every word she spoke was the last trace of feeling she had left for him.
At that moment, all her love for him vanished.
Oliver’s eyes reddened with panic. When his phone rang in his pocket, he shoved Geraldine away and answered it urgently, “Shanny, is there any news about Estelle?”
He didn’t even notice Geraldine crashing hard to the floor behind him.

It seemed he got an answer. He turned and rushed out without hesitation.
From start to finish, he never looked back at her.
When the villa door slammed shut, Geraldine lay on the floor, unable to get up from the pain.
Her face went pale as panic suddenly set in. A strange, twisting pain seized her lower abdomen, making her body tremble. In weather pushing 30 degrees, she broke out in a cold sweat.
Realization hit her all at once. She desperately reached for the phone that had fallen a short distance away.
Every centimeter she dragged herself forward sent searing pain through her lower belly.
Warm liquid flowed from between her legs.
Geraldine broke down in tears. The moment her fingers closed around the phone, she called for emergency help.
After hanging up, her strength gave out completely, and she lost consciousness.
